Keybindings
Anywhere
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| F1 | Where am I. Reads the screen you are on and what is focused. |
| F2 | Repeat the last thing said. |
| F3 | Speech on or off. |
| F6 | The key list, starting with the screen you are on. |
| F7 | Write the current screen to a file, for a bug report. |
| Comma / Period | Step back and forward through what has been said. |
| Shift+Comma / Shift+Period | Jump to the oldest or newest announcement. |
Moving Around a Menu or List
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| Up / Down Arrow | Move through the list. |
| Left / Right Arrow | On most screens, the same as up and down, so a grid reads as a straight line. On a settings row, change its value instead. |
| Enter | Activate the focused item. |
| Space | Describe the focused item in full. |
| Escape or Backspace | Go back. Some screens decline, the way the game's own back button does where there is nowhere to go. |
| Home / End | First or last item. |
| A Letter or Digit | In a long list, type to jump to a matching entry. Lists shorter than seven items do not take letters, so the information keys below keep working there. |
On a screen that is taking letters for searching, the information keys need Alt. Everywhere else they work on their own.
During a Question
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| R | Repeat the question and every answer. |
| N | Which question you are on, out of how many. |
| L | Open the prize ladder. Walk it with the arrows, Escape closes it. |
| M | What you are playing for. |
| W | What walking away right now is worth. |
| J | Every lifeline, and which are still available. |
| P | The audience vote, and what the friend on the phone said. |
| T | Time remaining, in timed modes. |
| I | The candidate's job and hobby, on the character screen. |
| Alt+M | Your neuron balance. |
Choosing Question Packs
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| Space | Select or deselect the pack under the cursor. |
| Enter | Commit the selection and carry on. |
Enter used to do the selecting, which meant committing your choice took a scroll all the way down to Next.
Online Multiplayer
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| O | Lobby status. Players joined and how long is left. |
| U | Your rank, your score, how many are out and how many are still playing. |
| S | Open or close the standings. Every player in the room in rank order, walked with the arrows. It opens on your own row. |
These work during a match as well as in the lobby. Away from online play they say there is no match rather than nothing at all.
Spoken without being asked: the lobby filling up and the last ten seconds of the wait, the countdown into the first question, every question with its four answers, whether you were right and what the answer was, sudden death starting, players being knocked out, your own elimination with the rank it left you on, losing the connection, and the final standings.
The Game's Own Controls
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| Shift, or LB / RB on a controller | Reach the lifelines, and leave them again. |
| Start on a Controller | Pause. |
| Backspace, in the Lifeline Strip | Go back to the answers without spending anything. The mod adds this one. The game offers only Shift for both directions, which is easy to get wrong in the one place where getting it wrong costs a lifeline. |
Settings
UserData\MelonPreferences.cfg, section WWTBAM_Access.
Worth knowing about: LinearGrids. The answers and the question packs are drawn as grids and read as straight lines, so Down moves from A to B rather than to whatever sits physically below. Turn it off to get the game's own grid movement back, which is what you want if someone sighted is reading along.
Others turn off list positions, turn on wrap-around, stop the countdown announcements, stop answers being read automatically, stop the loading tips, change the type-to-search threshold, and turn on verbose logging for a bug report.
